One thing that I have noticed is that I've been feeling a little off, a little strange, and I'm not sure why. My workouts are still strong and I have lots of energy, but something just feels different. One explanation may be that, as one loses weight, vitamins and/or toxins and chemicals that were stored in fat cells get released back into the body. My wife once heard that people who did LSD in the 60's & 70's and then went on diets and lost weight in the 90's, started having flashbacks again. Like I've said in a previous post, I went through a long period where I took a lot of vitamins and amino acids (thank goodness not the other type of acid), and I'm wondering if that is affecting me a little. Just a thought. So, keep that in mind when you start hitting the weight level you were at while you were going through your "wild phase".
I hope this give you a boost of motivation. Keep working the plan, don't get discouraged, and those loses will come.
I just want to give a shout out to my regular readers from Sweden ( I know, I actually have people from Sweden reading my blog, how cool is that). Most of my readers are from the United States, but my second biggest readership in terms of geography hail from Sweden. I just want to say thanks, and I really hope this blog is helping.

Well, I made it through Thanksgiving. I didn't deprive myself of anything and I didn't gain weight. Thanksgiving Day and the Friday afterwards were my free days. I didn't think about how much I was eating and didn't count calories. Then, the following Saturday, I was right back on the plan. I finished the month out and achieved my goal of averaging 1500 calories a day for the whole month of November (I averaged 1465 calories a day). Now, my goal for December is to average 1200 calories a day for the month. By dropping my calorie intake down, I've kick started my weight loss again. I was hitting a plateau (see post below), where I wasn't losing. But, now I've started losing again. In fact, just last night someone in the gym came up to me to tell me that I was doing a great job and to keep it up. They couldn't believe how much weight I've lost. That made me feel good and also gave me inspiration and motivation to work even harder.

Since July, I've lost between 35-40 pounds (about 2 pounds a week). Clothes that I wore 20 years ago are fitting again. I workout 4 times a week, about an hour each session consisting of a mix of cardio, like elliptical, and stationary bike, and weight lifting, light to moderate weight, with a mix of repetitions. I've kept an average of my daily calorie intake since the end of September ( remember sometimes I'll average 1700 calories for a month then drop down to 1300 calories for a month, as an example). My average daily-calorie intake since September is 1273 calories. I've read that it isn't wise to consume less than 1200 calories a day. I'm not sure about that, but I know I don't want to drop too much lower as to kick in my natural defense system where my metabolism slows down. The dreaded point of diminishing returns.
But I have noticed that I've hit a plateau, and my progress has slowed down. But I won't get discouraged. After Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday will be my "free days" where I don't count calories, and I'll enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without guilt) I am going to increase my exercise to 6 days a week, and add more "cardio" to my routines. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!...and thanks for reading my blog. I really hope I've helped you to lose the weight you want to lose.

Fifteen years ago I bought a baseball style shirt with my favorite university on it. It was a little tight back then, but being an optimist I kept it, thinking I'll lose weight and it will fit. Well, I never did. My wife has been wearing it as an over-sized night shirt the last 10 years. The other day I tried it on for the heck of it and was amazed that it fit perfectly. She also has a Pro-Football jersey of mine that I bought 28 years ago. It's still in great shape and in a couple months I plan to have it back in my closet too.
When I go to the grocery store I usually pay by credit card and then pay the balance at the end of the month. Well, the last couple of months I have been noticing quite a drop in my monthly credit charges. So I started crunching the numbers and figured that since I started on this plan I've been spending between $300-$400 less a month on food. That's a nice car payment.

This week I've lost a couple more pounds and feel great. I have about 30 pounds to go to get under 200 (my first goal)
